A Convenient Mop For Efficient CleaningSwiffer WetJet Starter Kit
- Compatible with most hard floor surfaces
- Easy to maneuver
- Lightweight and compact
- Fragile design
- Requires some elbow grease
What’s in the Box
When I first opened the box, I was surprised to see how small the various parts of this mop are. In fact, I was unsure there was even a full spray mop inside.
But, there is! They might look small, but I was excited to see a full-sized (and very compact) mop when I put it together.
The parts come separately in the box, including the handle, floor-head, and neck. Plus, it also comes with cleaning pads and a cleaning solution.
Here’s what you get in the box:
- Power floor mop.
- Three power pad refills.
- 500 ml bottle of floor cleaner.
- Two original mopping pad refills.
- Four batteries.
Flimsy But Convenient Design

The Swiffer Wet Jet has a simple, compact design. And the curving handle makes it feel comfortable to hold.
The parts come separately in the box. So it took me some time to assemble.
While it was a bit confusing trying to connect the different parts of the handle, they fit together quickly in the end. I also had to insert the four batteries and attach the cleaning solution by popping it into place.
After putting it together, I found the rest of the setup very easy. Attaching the cleaning pads and bottle of cleaning solution is very straightforward.
The hook-and-loop design on the head makes it easy to attach the cleaning pads. It also makes removing them just as easy.
Warning
I had to be careful inserting the batteries because it felt like the plastic might break during the process.
The handle also has a weak, plastic neck that feels very thin. Because of this, it doesn’t feel as sturdy as I would like for mopping.
But, the head itself is very durable, and I was also happy with the size. It’s big enough to clean large areas at once without being too big for the overall compact design.
The spray button is one of my favorite features on this Swiffer mop. It’s a simple and easy-to-use design feature that makes adding cleaning solutions to the floor a breeze.
But again, the button is made of thin plastic and feels like it could break easily during cleaning.
The great thing about the compact design is that I could easily store it away after mopping. It barely took up any space in storage.
Plus, the bottle of floor cleaner can be left on the mop. So I don’t have to remove the cleaning solution every time I finish cleaning.
Easy Gliding

Weighing only a few pounds, the Swiffer Wet Jet Mop feels very easy to push around. The lightweight design meant that my arm didn’t have to hold any weight while I was mopping.
And thanks to the curving handle, I was happy with how easy this mop was to maneuver. The handle made it easy to hold and control around the floor without needing to twist my arm to reach into corners.
Because of this, it didn’t require a lot of effort to move the mop around obstacles and furniture. I found it very easy to maneuver on hardwood and laminate floors.
But it also glides across tiles nicely. However, it does require a bit of extra effort when maneuvering over grout lines and uneven surfaces.
It often got stuck on the grout lines, and I had to use a bit of extra effort to keep it gliding.
But, the slim build made reaching into tight spaces an easy task with this Swiffer.
Perfect For Dirt on Almost Any Hard Surface

I love this mop’s ability to handle dirt on almost any hard surface. Because of its flat head, I can use it on laminate, hardwood, vinyl, and also tile surfaces.
It’s surprising how much dirt it picks up on these surfaces! The cleaning cloths work on all types of soil, including mud and wet spills.
And thanks to the power pad refills, it also efficiently removes sticky messes and ground-in dirt. The absorb-and-lock strip traps any grime deep in the pad so it doesn’t stay on the floor.
However, the label does say not to use this on un-finished wood floors or unsealed tiles. So I recommend taking care using this Swiffer if you have these floors in your home.
Achieves Great Results With A Bit Of Effort
The Swiffer WetJet achieves a great clean. But, it did require some elbow grease.
To see how well it really works, I put it to the test on various hard surfaces.
Laminate, Hardwood, and Vinyl
I was impressed at how well it trapped dust on laminate, hardwood floors, and vinyl surfaces. But, it was also very efficient for scrubbing stains and marks on these surfaces.
I was able to remove tough marks and grime with just a few cleaning passes. And with a little bit of elbow grease, I was even able to tackle light stains and sticky messes as well.
Using the extra power cleaning pads also made a big difference! I noticed fewer stains on these surfaces with these pads without putting in too much effort.
Caution
But, the spray nozzle made it easy to tackle stubborn areas. I could easily apply the solution to the floor when I needed to.
And this definitely made a difference to the results. The cleaning solution spray helped lift ground-in dirt that the disposable pad didn’t pick up on its own.
Tiles
For me, I found tiles were the weakest area. The Swiffer WetJet left dirt in grout even when I was using extra pressure.
While it left the tile spotless, the dirty grout made the surface look grimy after cleaning. So I wasn’t as happy with the results on my tiles.
That said, the overall cleaning results were very impressive. But, don’t expect flawless results on your tiles.
Accessories & Replacement Parts: Covers The Basics

This Swiffer WetJet comes in a mop starter kit. So it includes the basics, such as extra cleaning pads, floor cleaner, and batteries.
I was especially happy that it came with the extra power pads. This made it versatile to use on stains, as well as ground-in debris.
I also love that it comes with a 500ml bottle of floor cleaner that fits straight into the mop. So I didn’t have to purchase my own solution and spray bottle or worry about dispensing cleaning solutions into the mop.
This cleaning solution bottle attachment is a real plus for me. It saves a lot of hassle during cleaning and eliminates the risk of making a mess with cleaning products on the floor.
However, I would prefer if this mop came with reusable pads. Because the extra cleaning pads are disposable pads, they don’t last very long.
It would be helpful to have a washable cleaning pad, so I don’t need to use a new pad after each clean.
In terms of replacement parts, I didn’t need any. The bottle of floor cleaner goes far, so I didn’t need to replace it during my cleaning.
The starter kit refill disposable pads are easy to find on Amazon. But, I found these very expensive to replace.
As for replacement parts, Swiffer does offer replacement mops if something goes wrong. But, you have to return the whole mop starter kit rather than just the single piece.
And this is if you return the starter kit within 30 days. If there are any problems with the mop after 30 days, you’ll likely need to buy a new one.
I find this disappointing, especially since the parts feel fragile and may break over time. I would like to be able to replace the necessary piece without needing to buy a whole new mop.
Common Complaints
It’s essential to consider feedback from other users to get a complete picture of how this mop performs. Here are more reviews and common complaints about this Swiffer WetJet.
Poor Durability
The disappointing durability is the biggest complaint about this Swiffer. Many people have issues with broken parts, such as the spray button and handle.
While I didn’t experience any breaks during cleaning, I did find the plastic parts to be very flimsy. So I’m not surprised to see so many complaints about broken pieces after a few months of use.
Short Battery Life
Another common complaint with this Swiffer Wet Jet is that the AA batteries don’t last very long. In fact, some users note that their batteries ran out after one cleaning session.
Plus, for some users, the batteries didn’t work at all, and they had to buy new batteries.
You should contact the manufacturer if you have issues with your batteries. Or, be prepared to have spare batteries at hand just in case.
Replacements
I wasn’t the only one who found that replacing the parts can be difficult and expensive. Many reviews agree that having to replace the whole mop is highly inconvenient.
They also note that the replacement disposable pads are costly. Because of this, many users chose to use different reusable cleaning pads.
I recommend using a washable microfiber cleaning cloth for the best results with this Swiffer mop. Although the label recommends using the refill Swiffer Pads, a reusable cloth is much more affordable to save money.
