A Fantastic Scrubber, but Not the Best Shine
O-Cedar ProMist MAX Spray Mop

PROS Of O-Cedar ProMist
  • The mop feels sturdy to use
  • It removes the toughest stains
  • The spray bottle holds a lot of cleaning solution
CONS Of O-Cedar ProMist
  • The handle is uncomfortable to hold
  • The mop pad leaves streaks
The O-Cedar spray mop cleans tough stains with ease, but the ProMist Max microfiber mop head doesn’t offer the shiny, streak-free finish I’d hoped for.

What’s in the Box

O-Cedar Spray Mop Packaging
I love the fully recyclable packaging the ProMist Max spray mop comes in.
O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop In The Box
The outside is as simple as the pieces contained within it:

  • Mop head and spray bottle section
  • Handle section
  • Pole section
  • Microfiber mop pad
  • Instruction leaflet

You can have the mop assembled and ready to use in a couple of clicks.

Simple Yet Effective Design

O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop Design Front and Side
I love the simple but well-thought-out design of the Max Microfiber Spray Mop. It feels like O-Cedar knows what’s important when it comes to mopping.

The red color scheme doesn’t have the wow factor, but it’s not bad to look at either. And the plastic feels so sturdy and of good quality that the aesthetics aren’t overly critical anyway.
O-Cedar Assembly Instructions
The round handle feels robust to hold, the water tank is super easy to fill, and attaching the reusable mop pad is straightforward. So bonus points all around! I was ready to mop within minutes of opening the box, it was that effortless to put together.
O-Cedar ProMist Handle
The only real downside I can find to the design is the molding of the handle. There’s a plastic joint right where the palm of your hand goes.

Warning

After mopping one room, I could feel the sharp edges digging into my skin.

It’s not a deal-breaker when there are so many positives, but it’s a small area that needs improvement. Some sort of rubber covering, like the one on the secondary handle, would make it way more comfortable.

Swivels Like a Dream

4
O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop Maneuverability
I can see why the O-Cedar Max Microfiber spray mop is a leading spray mop when it’s this easy to move around. You can easily control the swivel head, so it’s not difficult to navigate around furniture.

O-Cedar ProMist Head Swivel

The mop’s head swivels perfectly

Thanks to the pivoting head, the mop can lay flat or work its way into tricky corners. And this design feature isn’t just useful for maneuverability.

The microfiber head flips 180 degrees, so you can use both sides of the mop pad for twice the coverage. But I do think one side is more effective than the other.

TESTING INSIGHT:

One side of the mop head has a “V” shaped cut out for the handle. It’s easier to use when that’s at the back. Otherwise, you’re missing a lot of scrubbing power by having the gap at the front.

It’s also a tall mop, but it’s more comfortable than I was expecting. The secondary grip on the pole makes it suitable for users of different heights.

I’m 5”8, my husband is 6”4, and it worked for both of us. You can’t adjust the handle length, so I’m unsure how shorter users would get on with it.

The only other slight gripe I found was how heavy the mop feels after a while. It feels like quite a workout when you’ve pushed and pulled it around a few rooms, so try and break your cleaning up.

Effective on a Range of Surfaces and Dirt

5
O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop Stain Before and After
The O-Cedar ProMist Max is a leading spray mop, and for good reason. The microfiber mop pad is gentle enough to use on just about any surface but tough enough to tackle all kinds of dirt.

It works well with just water, so it’s safe to use on different surfaces. You can add your own solution if you choose to, but make sure you discard remaining water before adding new solution to suit your floor type.

TESTING INSIGHT:

You can also change the angle of the handle to adjust the spray. The more upright it is, the more condensed the spray is. I did this when I needed to focus on a small area of tougher stains.

For general wet mopping, I tipped the handle back a little further to cover a larger area with a finer mist.

The ability to change the spray density is super useful for different types of dirt as well as surfaces. Certain hard floors, like finished hardwood floors and laminate, don’t handle excess moisture. So I love that you can achieve a light spray and use it on these.

My test focused on ceramic tile floors that take a lot of wear and tear. My floors suffer daily muddy paw prints, coffee stains, and all kinds of food messes from my toddler throwing meals around.

The O-Cedar cut through every mark I tested. Even stubborn dirt disappeared with a couple of passes. And you can use it dry and zap dust particles away thanks to the versatile microfiber pad.

I really can’t fault O-Cedar’s ProMist Max Microfiber spray mop for its versatility!

Cleans Like a Dream, but Doesn’t Dry Well

4
O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop Drying

The mop leaves an obvious cleaning pass after it.

There’s no doubt the O-Cedar mop has remarkable cleaning power. The super absorbent microfiber pad is threaded with rubber strands to make tough cleaning easier.

It saves cleaning time having something so effective. And I found it cleaned everything from light to heavy soiling without too much hassle.

In particular, it’s amazing on tough stains and the mop scrubbed through sticky patches with no problem at all. In the past, I’ve had to get down on my hands and knees to scrub at stubborn stains, but the O-Cedar managed just fine.

For a deeper clean, I used an extra spritz of cleaning solution and left it to soak for a minute. A few passes of the mop head cleared stubborn marks right up.

On the downside, the O-Cedar didn’t tackle spilled water as effectively. The mop head soaked up a small amount and then spread the rest around the floor. So it’s not a good choice if you’re trying to remove a mass of standing water.

The main disappointment was how streaky my floors looked when they dried. I used my favorite cleaning solution that normally leaves them looking great, but not this time.

I could see the cleaning path from the mop, as it left obvious lines. So it’s a great mop for scrubbing, but not good for leaving any sort of shine or streak-free finish.

Easy to Look After

O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop Reusable Bottle

The O-Cedar ProMist is a basic mop with a trigger spray system. There aren’t any fancy extras, like steaming, so there’s no need for costly batteries or fiddly maintenance.

It means maintaining the ProMist Max is an easy task. The only real thing you need to do is wash the mop pad and leave it to dry. And it’s machine washable, so there’s no need to hand wash it.

It’s also easy to change refill mop pads when you need to. The pad slides on and off the plastic frame and is held in place by velcro.

Of course, you will need to replace it every few months. But it’s not expensive to buy replacements, so the ongoing costs are minimal.

Another huge bonus is how you can use just water in the refillable bottle. The deep cleaning microfiber mop head is designed to scrub effectively without the need for using an expensive cleaning solution.

You can use tap water or your favorite cleaning solution in the refillable bottle, which I love. It still removes dirt and could save you a fortune in the long run.

Lacking Accessories

3
O-Cedar ProMist Spray Mop Head Flip

You can use both sides of the mop pad!

The O-Cedar ProMist comes with some basic supplies. And by that, I mean just one reusable microfiber mop head.

But it’s not as bad as it sounds seeing as the head flips 180-degrees, so you can clean for longer. When one side looks grubby simply flip it over and start mopping with the other side.

The main down side is that you can’t tumble dry the mop pad, so you do have to wait a while for it to dry naturally. It’s definitely worth buying a spare or two so that you’re always ready to go if spills happen.

And O-Cedar suggests replacing them altogether every three months anyway. It’s easy to hop onto the O-Cedar website to order replacements when you need to.

I just wish it came with at least one extra mop pad. It’s not the cheapest mop on the market, so I was hoping for a little more.

Common Complaints

While I’m a big fan of the O-Cedar spray mop, there are a few grumbles that keep cropping up online. These are the main ones.

Mop Head Falls Off

A few users had issues with the mop head falling off at the pivoting section. After trying out the O-Cedar several times over the last few weeks, I can safely say I haven’t had any of these problems.

Not even the mop pad has come loose! I’m not sure if O-Cedar has changed the design of this part recently, but it’s something to keep in mind before you purchase.

Spray Trigger Breaks

This is a weak point with a lot of spray mops, as the trigger gets a lot of use. I found the trigger on the O-Cedar ProMist felt pretty sturdy, but I can’t vouch for how long it lasts.

Make sure you keep proof of purchase, so you can contact the manufacturer for advice if you have this issue.

Needs More Pads

This is one complaint I do agree with. Most spray mops these days come with a few replacements heads, but the O-Cedar spray mop only has one.

And seeing as you have to wait for it to dry naturally, having a spare included would keep the mop functional at all times. Still, at least they’re relatively inexpensive, and you can order more online.

Old Spray Bottles Don’t Work With New Models

O-Cedar made a few tweaks to this spray mop, including how the fill bottle attaches. Some users kept a stash of bottles to use with different types of cleaning solutions, only to find they didn’t work with their new mop.

It’s not a deal-breaker, but keep this in mind if you already have the O-Cedar ProMist spray mop and are hoping to do this.

Alternatives

If you want to look at a few more options before making your choice, here are some other mops to consider.

Mr. Siga Professional Microfiber Mop

If spray mops aren’t your thing, it’s worth checking this one out instead. It still has all the benefits of double-sided reusable microfiber mop pads and a swivel head.

It also has a telescopic handle, which is a nifty addition if you want to change the height for different users. And the pole is made from stainless steel rather than plastic.

Turbo Microfiber Mop

Again, this isn’t a spray mop but it’s packed with features to make housework easier. It includes two different types of reusable mop pads, standard and scrubbing versions. Both are machine washable.

You can use it on most surfaces, even drywall if you fancy doing a bit of dusting. The telescopic alloy handle gives the extra reach you need to go cobweb hunting!
